Lobby and Tea has great news to share with you!

It’s official! Lobby and Tea’s pictures have been noticed by the amazing Artelli Gallery which will present them at the forthcoming Affordable Art Fair that will take place in Brussels from March 15 to March 18, 2018!

I guess some of you wonder who is hiding behind the photographs which illustrate the hotels that are uncovered to you on a weekly basis, so here we go:

My name is Noëmie Rubinsztejn and I was born in Antwerp, Belgium. I always felt I had a different perception of my surroundings as I’m stereoblind. Stereoblindness is the inability to see in 3D, resulting in the incapacity to perceive stereoscopic depth by combining and comparing images from two eyes.

This condition, together with my non-existing fear of heights, led to the adoption of a different photographic style, as everything which catches my attention, looks flat and static.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been attracted to design, architecture and, as you understood, hotel lobbies. You know, gems with beautifully ornamented walls that have a million stories to tell… As if by just looking at their structure, location and age, you could be dragged into a crazy adventure which would lead to the discovery of inestimable treasures!

Hotels are brilliant as they reflect a city’s philosophy, architecture, art, taste and mindset. They teach all you need to know about the culture, social statuses, do’s and don’ts of the place you are visiting. Believe it or not but while sitting and discreetly listening to interesting conversations around you in a hotel lobby, you can uncover the political, economic and social situations of a country.

All this is exactly what I try to catch when I shoot a picture: that right moment which envelops the place’s past, present and future atmosphere, heritage, essence and identity. I always strive to remain loyal to the moment, its colors, elements and irregularities, which often turn out to be the key to success of the visited palazzi.

My photography companions are my impressive phone and my surprising camera which I like to refer to as my little, smart and magic boxes as they have been able to perfectly assist me in capturing these (sometimes) uncatchable moments and feelings which often only happen once in our existence. One move, breath, wink and the picture turns into another story; the story of the next second.

Photography is a momentous event which should be noticed and caught in the same way as we recognize happiness, as it is all fading and floating away, since time is moving everything to the next (exciting) picture of our existence.

An existence filled with passion, which I am thrilled to share with you, as you are an integral part of the inspiration I felt when I took the pictures that will be exposed at Affordable Art Fair in Brussels!

I can’t wait to see you all there and, who knows, seize some unforgettable and magical moments with you!
